2nd place at Buxton

Playing off a number one draw with Philip Sparke's 'Tallis Variations', Kippax returned from Derbyshire with a very creditable Second place and a tidy haul of silverware.
David and the Band felt that 'Tallis' was well-suited to our strengths and so it proved, finding favour with Adjudicator David Horsfield. Indeed Kippax were only pipped to First prize by the Championship section graded GT Group Peterlee Band, who dusted off their area test piece to take the First prize. And so we made the late journey back to West Yorkshire with no less than three pieces of silverware, with the Trophy for Second Prize (and £200), another for the Best placed First Section Band and to round things off Nigel (Principal Cornet) took the soloist prize.
Finally, a special thanks to Alison Grantham (EYMS Band) and Tony Wood (Horbury) who 'depped' on First Horn and Bass Trom respectively, thanks both!
