David has had more
comebacks than Elvis and we are pleased to announce his re-incarnation as an Eb
Bass player!
David was tutored by his grandfather until the age of 16. He
played in bands within the North East but says he didn’t truly grasp the meaning
of brass bands until coming to Yorkshire in 1995. David started playing on
cornet and has swapped between this and Flugel throughout his banding career.
David is now in his second (or is it third?) spell at
Kippax, having spent a Championship-winning year with the Yorkshire Imperial
Band in the interim.
David loves football and rugby (Liverpool FC and Cas Tigers!), as well as spicy
food and its after-effects. He is married to Jackie and they
have a son, Arran. David resigned from playing
with Imps to help Jackie with Arran. However, after driving her up the wall for
3 months she insisted that he get back to band.
